In general, the key to noise reduction is the reduction of the fan's tip speed. If your performance criteria can be met with a slower moving prop, the noise level will generally be lower. Unfortunately, one cannot always achieve the desired performance at a decreased fan speed. In these cases, active and passive noise reduction techniuqes may need to be employed.
